June 3-5, 2016 Great Tennessee Air Show
On Friday, June 3rd Bill Mueller and I went up to Smyrna for the Great Tennessee airshow. The Blue Angels were to be the featured performers, but sadly one of Blue Angels was killed in a crash during practice on Thursday.
Saturday started with strong rains after we arrived, so we left, assuming the day's flights would be cancelled. But it cleared up enough later that everything flew. We were able to see and shoot some of acts from a parking lot near out motel.
Sunday was a great day with mostly blue skies and some puffy clouds. There were special operations skydivers, a P-51 and F4U Corsair, a Vultee A-35 Vengeance Dive Bomber, an F-22 Raptor and a heritage flight with the F-22 and a P-51 flying formation. The final act was the Breitling Jet team from France flying the L-39 Albatross.
